Enyimba of Aba captain, Chinedu Udoji has attributed the People’s Elephant’s crushing defeat Sunday at Ifeanyiubah United to inability of the six-time champions’strikers to convert their chances.
Domestic league record goal scorer, Mfom Udoh was the worst culprit on the night as he failed to convert three begging chances in the first period.
18 minutes into the match-day seven clash, Udoh smashed his effort against the crossbar.
Nine minutes later, he came face-to-face with Ifeanyiubah United keeper, Eze Chidiebere but merely ‘tossed’ the ball to his waiting hands.
The two time African champions were pegged back eight minutes after the restart when Chukwudi Nwogu found the bottom corner after out-pacing Enyimba defensive pair of Chinedu Udoji and Markson Ojobo.
“That’s what you get when you fail to take your chances”, rues Udoji pensively to Completesportsnigeria.com.
“We created scoring chances but could not put them away. Gabros had their and converted them.
“That made all the difference. In games like this, you don’t wait for a second chance.
That’s football, you win some, you lose some.
“We’re at the odd end today, life goes on. Who knows, it could have been a different
story,” Udoji stressed.
