Enyimba and Warri Wolves’ Glo Premier League title bids suffered a hitch with both sides succumbing to defeats in their week 30 fixtures on Sunday.
At the Karkanda Stadium, Katsina, leaders Enyimba suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to El-Kanemi Warriors.
The visitors who put up a disjointed performance in the game were shocked in the eighth minute when Benjamin Turba scored the curtain raiser for his side.
Former Rangers striker Efe Yarhere doubled the hosts’ lead in the 28th minute. Nzube Anaezemba however reduced the the deficit one minute from time.
In Umuahia, Warri Wolves put up a spirited display but still went down 2-1 to Abia Warriors.
Henry Ochuba opened scoring for Ladan Bosso’s charges in the fourth minute, but Wolves rallied back five minutes later, getting the equalizer through Joseph Osadiaye.
Ifeanyi Onyeali restored the hosts’ lead in the 54th minute which they protected for the remaining part of the game.
Wikki Tourists moved back to the third position courtesy of a 2-0 home win against Bayelsa United.
Mubarak Umar (15mins) and Nafiu Ibrahim (72mins) got the goals for the Bauchi-based outfit.
Shooting Stars recorded a slim 1-0 win against Akwa United at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan with Seun Akinyemi’s 12th minute strike seperating both sides.
The Oluyole Warlords dominated the game and should have scored more goals if not for some fantastic goalkeeping from Akwa United’s goalkeeper, Kayode Olufemi.
At the Lafia Township Stadium, Esosa Igbinoba continued his fine form for Nasarawa United as he scored the winner for his side in the 1-0 win against Rangers.
The in-form forward now sits at the top of the scorers’ chart with 14 goals.
Dolphins breathed some life into their relegation fight with a comfortable 3-1 win against fellow strugglers Taraba United.
The Port Harcourt Dwellers’ Ghanaian import, Godbless Asamoah, scored a brace with Omoh Johnson getting the other goal in the game. Bishop Onyeudo got the consolation goal for Taraba United from the spot in the closing stages of the match.
Giwa FC compounded Sharks’ woes by handing the Blue Angels a 1-0 defeat, while FC IfeanyiUbah and Kano Pillars ended their game in a 1-1 draw.
Heartland were held to a barren draw at home by Lobi Stars in the last fixture for the day.
