Enyimba midfielder Abdulrazak Aliyu has blamed the woes of the club on their inability to play their home games at the Aba International stadium this past season reports, Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Aba Elephants finished a distant tenth at the just concluded season after failing to defend their Nigerian Professional Football League title.
And Aliyu admits a win against Nasarawa United in Saturday’s second semi-final clash of the 2016 Federation Cup in Ibadan will go some way to redeem the club.
The seven-time league champions will be hoping to make it to the final of the Cup for the sixth time in eight seasons.
“For me, this is a season to forget because we did not do well. But I think it would have been different If we played in Aba. It’s not an easy thing – the stadium issue, but we have to take it in good faith, play very hard and get back to the continent through the FA Cup.” Aliyu told to www.enyimbafc.net
“The game is very important to us,” Aliyu added. “Like everyone knows, we did not get a good position in the League and in the Champions League we did not do very well also, so this is our remaining opportunity to go back to the continent.
“Enyimba play on the continent every year so we have to put in everything to make sure we get to the final”.
