Exclusive By David Meshioye: Polish Football Association (PFA) has pointed English Premier League top referee Michael Oliver to oversee proceeding in the much anticipated international friendly between Poland and Nigeria billed for Wroclaw on March 23, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.‎

In an exclusive chat with CSN on Friday, Polish FA spokesman, Jakub Kwiatkowski revealed that Oliver’s track record as one of England’s best referees stood him out above others, and has been endorsed by PFA to call the shots at Stadion Wroclaw.

“That’s correct; Michael Oliver is confirmed for the encounter. Polish FA decided to pick him ahead of others because of his track records in the English Premier League,” Kwiatkowski told Completesportsnigeria.com ‎

Kwiatkowski revealed further that Oliver will be assisted in the flanks by his countrymen, namely; Stephen Child and Stuart Burt, while the fourth official will be Robert Madley.

Only recently, Polish FA revealed that Nigerian fans will pay 160 Polish Zloty (equivalent of N17,197.20) to buy a Category A ticket, while Category B and C tickets will cost N12,895.20 and N9,673.20 respectively. On the other hand, a child under the age of 12 years is going to pay 90 zB or N8, 593.20.

With this news the Nigerian embassy has started mobilizing the Super Eagles fans based in the country to come out and cheer the team. Nigerian fans are expected to be in the stands at the Municipal Stadium Wroclaw, the third largest stadium in Poland with a capacity of approximately 42,000 seats.

Nice choice of referee; Oliver is always fair minded and focused even when a player insultingly shouts at him, he does not take it personal. I look forward to viewing a great match with balance.

  • well, he distorted the result of the match. he didn’t notice the goal for poland and wrongly dictated the penalty kick for nigeria. poor ref
