Former Flying Eagles and Super Eagles midfielder Etim Esin is looking forward to the release of the 35-man provisional World Cup squad of the Flying Eagles ahead of the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup in New Zealand.
The former Ghent and Lierse of Belgium midfield ace who participated at the 1987 U20 World Cup in chile tells completesportsnigeria.com that he is upbeat about the chances of the Flying Eagles winning the World Cup for the first time in their history at the tournament.
“The addition of Kelechi Iheanacho, Musa Yahaya, Isaac Success and Chidiebere Nwakali will surely make the Flying Eagles a great team during the U20 World Cup.
“Yes, Nigerians can’t wait to see the provisional squad and I’m expecting to see a side that could match Brazil for instance in New Zealand,” Esin further said.
Iheanacho and Yahaya were not available at the recently concluded African Youth Chamionship in Senegal while Success and Nwakali were not released by their clubs.
It is however uncertain when the Flying Eagles could be honoured by current President, Goodluck Jonathan for their victory at the AYC in Senegal.
