KAA Gent midfielder Anderson Esiti has declared that he is ready to fight for his place in the new-look Super Eagles, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Super Eagles are away to Zambia in their first World Cup qualifier this Sunday and the 22-year-old midfielder is keen to play a part in the encounter in Ndola having scored in a practice match against Plateau United on Wednesday.
The Eagles defeated Plateau United 3-0 in their only warm-up game played at the practice pitch of the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday.
“I’m very confident that we will win provided that we play with the same spirit we have done in training,” Esiti told Completesportsnigeria.com.
Esiti was dropped after a decent debut appearance for the Super Eagles against Chad last summer but caught the eye of new national team gaffer Gernot Rohr again with his good form following his summer move from Estoril in Portugal to the Belgian league.
"I've been given this chance and I've got to take it with both hands," he said ahead of their game against Zambia in Ndola.
"It is a huge honour and a big boost for me to be named in the squad and I want to make an impression with my performances on the pitch."
Esiti has made five appearances for his club so far this term and could play a part in Ndola.
