Nigerian midfielder, Anderson Esiti has expressed his delight following Gent’s hard-fought win against visiting Sporting Charleroi in the Belgian top flight on Thursday night, Completesportsnigeria.com report’s.
Roman Yaremchuk’s 90th minute goal, secured Gent’s seventh league game without defeat (six wins, one draw).
Esiti and his Nigerian teammates; Moses Simon and Samuel Kalu were in action for Gent, with the former subbed off on 69 minutes.
Reacting to the win, an elated Esiti described the win as important to Gent who are now fourth on 32 points in the league table.
“Wonderful! Just look at my reaction,” Esiti told Gent’s official website.
“This is a very important victory, for sure, these are the moments for which you play football if you can score in the last minute. I am really happy also for Roman, a very strong player by the way, it is a joy to play with him. He is a hard worker and the goals will come for sure.
“I Just hope that we can continue with this performance, everyone can enjoy this result; the coach, the staff, the supporters and the players.”
Esiti went on to reveal that he played Thursday night’s game with a slight knock and is not sure about playing against Anderlecht on Tuesday.
He said: “Yes, I injured myself a bit during the warm-up, I thought I was not going to play at first, but the doctors told me that I should try anyway. I felt good, only I played with a little bit of fright, but the chance is small that I will play against Anderlecht, we’ll see.”
