By James Agberebi: Nigeria midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, has expressed his satisfaction with the valuable one point the struggling Las Palmas got in their 1-1 home draw against league leaders Barcelona in the Spanish Laliga Santander on Thursday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Las Palmas looked to be heading for an expected defeat after Lionel Messi put Barcelona 1-0 up in the 21st minute with a stunning free-kick.But in the 48th minute, Jonathan Calleri drew Las Palmas level after converting from the penalty spot.
Despite the hard-fought draw, Las Palmas are still in the relegation zone as they are 18th on 20 points.
Barcelona remain top on 66 points, five points above second place Atletico Madrid who they will face at the Camp Nou this weekend.
Reacting to the draw, Etebo who was one of Las Palmas’ outstanding players against Barcelona, praised his club fans for their support in the course of the game.
“We gained a good point last night against a fierce opposition. Our supporters were amazing once again,” he wrote on his Twitter handle.
