Euro Roundup: Eleke Scores In Luzern Win, Taiwo On Target In Finland  As Awoniyi Fires Blanks In Gent’s Draw

Nigerian forward, Blessing Eleke needed only ten minutes to open his goal account for his new club FC Luzern who defeated Stanley Amuzie’s FC Lugano 4-2 in Saturday’s Swiss League game, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Eleke was introduced into the encounter in the 65th minute for Shkelqim Demhasaj. He scored in the 75th minute of the match.

Eleke’s compatriot and former academy teammate, Stanley Amuzie, also came on for Balkin Vecsei in the 77th minute.

In Finland, former Super Eagles left-back, Taye Taiwo scored his first league goal of the season for RoPS against his former team HJK Helsinki in Saturday’s 2-2 draw.

Taiwo scored in the 54th minute of the draw. It was his third league goal of the season in 21 appearances.

Macauley Chrisantus played 74 minutes for HJK Helsinki before he was replaced by Evans Mensah.

Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi failed to score in his second league appearance for KAA Gent who played out a 1-1 draw with Zulte Waragem in a Belgian League game played at the Ghelamco Stadium on Saturday.

Awoniyi’s compatriot Anderson Esiti was an unused substitute just as Zulte Waragem who also benched Kingsley Madu in the encounter.

Abdul Jeleel Ajagun played for 70 minutes in Kortrijk’s goalless draw away at Royal Antwerp.

Ajagun was replaced by Elohim Rolland. It was his second appearance of the new Belgian league season.

In Portugal, Chidozie Awaziem made the substitutes’ bench of FC Porto who defeated Aves 2-1 to lift the Portuguese Super Cup.

In the Danish Super League, Peter Onyeka made his second start for Midtjylland who recorded a 3-1 win over Vejle Boldklub. He was replaced by his compatriot, Ayo Okosun in the 71st minute.

Nigerian striker, Paul Onuachu and Riliwan Hassan did not make Midtjylland’s match-day squad for the game.

Brown Idowu was left out of Locomotive Moscow’s match-day squad that played out a 1-1 derby draw with Spartak Moscow.

In Hungry, Ikenne King was in action for MTK Budapest in their 2-1 win over Puskas Academy. It was his first official appearance since he joined the club this summer on a free.
