Europa League: Ambrose, James, Azango On Target As Hibernian, Trencin, Molde Win 1st Leg Of 2nd Qualifying Round

Former Super Eagles defender,  Efe Ambrose,  was on target as his Scottish club Hibernian rallied from two goals down to beat Greek club Asteras Tripolis 3-2 in the first leg of their Europa  League, second qualifying round encounter on Thursday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Giorgos Kiriskopoulous netted in the 12th and 35th minutes for Asteras Tripolis.

Ambrose started the comeback for Hibernian by reducing the deficit in the 64th minute, his second goal of the competition.

David Gray equalised for Hibernian in the 76th minute, while Florian Camberi netted the winning goal two minutes into stoppage time.

Slovakia side, AS Trencin beat  Polish side Gornik Zabrze 1-0 with  Philip Azango, who once featured for Nigeria Professional Football League outfit,  Nasarawa United  grabbing the winner six minutes before the break.

Two other Nigerian, Abdul Zubairu and Reuben Yem also started the game, while Emeka Umeh, the fourth Nigerian at the club was an unused substitute.

Leke James scored the third goal as Norwegian club, Molde beat Laci FC of Albania 3-0 in another Europa League clash.

Former U-23 Eagles midfielder, Usman Mohammed  was an unused substitute in Sarpsborg 08 of Norway 2-1 away defeat to Swiss side, St Gallen.

Another former junior international, Rabiu Ibrahim was also on the losing side with his team Slovan Bratislava going down to a 2-1 defeat  against Balzan FC Malta.

    • Agreed. He see more playing action than some of the fools that went to the world cup for sight seeing without making any meaningful impact
