Nigerian forward Samuel Kalu may make his UEFA Europa League debut for his new French side, Girondins de Bordeaux against his former club KAA Gent of Belgium in Thursday’s first leg playoff clash, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Kalu who left the Belgian Pro Division club, KAA Gent along with his compatriot Moses Simon this summer, has been included in the 20-man squad for the game billed for the Ghelamco Arena.
The 20-year-old who signed a five-year deal with Girondins de Bordeaux made his Ligue 1 debut in their 2-0 loss at home to Strasbourg.
Kalu scored seven in 32 Jupiler League games last term, and it’s was this form that lured Girondins de Bordeaux to recruit him as the third Nigerian to play for the club after Kalu Uche and Joseph Enakarhire.
Girondins de Bordeaux are 18th in the Ligue 1 table after two rounds of league matches.
