Nigeria striker, Philip Azango, impressive run in the UEFA Europa League came to an end after his Slovakia side, AS Trencin fell to a 3-0 defeat against Cypriot club, AEK Larnaca in the second leg of their play-off round fixture on Thursday, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.
AS Trencin were eliminated from the competition on a 4-1 aggregate scoreline after securing a 1-1 draw against their hosts in the first leg.
Azango, was on for the entire 90 minutes in the game, while his compatriot, Emeka Umeh who recently linked up with Trencin from Nigeria Professional Football League side, Plateau United came in as a 73rd minute substitute for Antonio Lance.
At the MCH Arena, Herning, the duo of Paul Onuachu and Ugochukwu Frank were also in action for Danish outfit, Midtylland who were eliminated from the competition following a 2-0 home loss against Swedish club, Malmo FF.
Midtylland were sent packing 4-2 on aggregate despite claiming a 2-2 away draw in the first leg.
Onuachu started the game on the bench and came in for Ayo Okosun in the 56th minute.
The story was the same for Leke James and Daniel Chima who also saw their Norwegian club, Molde crashed out of the competition despite a 2-1 home win against Zenit St Petersburg.
Molde were eliminated 4-3 on aggregate having lost the first leg 3-1.
James was a second half substitute in the game, while Chima was not listed.
