Nigerian forward Imoh Ezekiel was in action for Anderlecht who beat Qarabag 2-1 in Group J and booked their place in the round of 32 of the Europa League. Ezekiel was later subsituted in the 66th minute for Dodi Lukebakio.
Dani Quintana put Qarabag in front on 26 minutes, before goals from Andy Najar and Stefano Okaka in the 28th and 31st minutes sealed the win for Anderlecht.
Also in Group J, Super Eagles left-back Elderson Echiejile played for 90 minutes as AS Monaco crashed out of the competition following their 4-1 loss to Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
Erik Lamela grabbed a hat-trick, while Thomas Carroll got Spurs’ other goal. Former AC Milan player Stephan Elsharaawy got Monaco’s only goal.
In Group K, Kehinde Fatai and Sparta Prague progressed alongside Schalke O4, thanks to their 3-1 away win against Apoel Nicosia.
Fatai made way for Marek Matejovsky in the 46th minute.
Paul Onuachu’s Danish side Midtjylland advanced into the round of 32 despite playing a 1-1 home draw against Belgian side Club Brugge. Onuachu was introduced for Martin Pusic with seven minutes left.
Pione Sisto gave Midtjylland the lead before Jelle Vossen restored parity for Club Brugge in the 68th minute.
And in Group A Celtic, who had already been eliminated, played 1-1 against Fenebahce in Turkey with Efe Ambrose benched for 90 minutes.
Fenebahce took the lead throught Lazar Markovic in the 39th minute. With 15 minutes left, Kris Commons equalised for the Scottish champions.
