Everton Bash West Brom As Bournemouth, Hull Win

 

 

Everton returned to winning ways in the English Premier League on Saturday by defeating West Brom 3-0 at Goodison Park to maintain their seventh place position in the table.

 

First half goals from Kevin Mirallas, Morgan Schneiderlin and a late goal from Romelu Lukaku handed Ronald Koeman's side a comfortable lead. 

 

Romelu Lukaku who has scored 18 league goals so far this term had the first of the encounter but he fired his effort from close range wide off the far post.

 

The Belgian forward again had another chance three minutes later but this he headed Leighton Baines' cross wide.

 

Lukaku's compatriot Kevin Mirallas finally broke the deadlock for the Toffees in the 39th minute, firing home a rebounded effort from Ross Barkley after Ben Foster had parried the ball to his path.

 

Schneiderlin doubled the lead on the stroke of halftime firing in a stunning strike to give Everton a 2-0 lead into the break. The goal was his first for Everton.

 

In the 56th minute of the game, West Brom had a chance to get back into the game, but Nacer Chadli's shot was saved by Joel Robles. 

 

Lukaku finally got his name on the score sheet heading in  Ross Barkley's cross from close range in the 83rd minute.

 

The goal was Lukaku 19th Premier League goal this season, his best return in a single campaign in England’s top division.

 

In other EPL games on Saturday,  Bournemouth defeated West Ham 3-2 while Hull City saw off fellow strugglers Swansea 2-1.
