Flying Eagles forward, Chidera Ezeh, says he hopes they can start their 2015 Africa Youth Championship campaign with a big win.
The 20th edition of the competition gets underway today in Dakar, Senegal, with the hosts as Nigeria’s first opponents, but Ezeh says he couldn’t care less who the opposition was, all he wants is a big win for him and his teammates.
“We want to start the competition in a big way and we want to start with a big win on Saturday,” he said to SL10.ng.
When reminded that they start their campaign against hosts, Senegal, the FC Porto starlet says that doesn’t bother him.
“It doesn’t bother me who our first opponents are. I’m only concerned in us getting a win; a big win. Whether it’s Senegal or not doesn’t bother me, and neither does it concern me,” he said confidently.
The Nigerians are missing some star names, like Chidiebere Nwakali, Kelechi Iheanacho, Musa Yahaya and Wilfred Ndidi.
And Ezeh reckons it is a huge blow to their team, but remained upbeat they still have a formidable squad.
“We obviously will miss those guys because they are very good players and we have been together since the U17’s.
“But we also have other very good players here now, and we want to make the best use of what we have so that we can be successful,” he added.
