Nigeria striker Imoh Ezekiel scored to help Standard Liege beat Waasland Beveren 3-2 in the Belgian Pro League game played on Friday night.
Imoh Ezekiel was good enough to last the entire duration in the five-goal thriller at the Stade Maurice Dufrasne.
Jonathan Rowell silenced Standard Liege fans with the opener in the 16th minute.
The visitors however surrendered this lead nine minutes to the end of the first half through one cap Super Eagles striker Imoh Ezekiel.
Renaud Emond restored Waasland Beveren’s lead in the 64th minute but their defensive issues were again brought to the fore as they conceded a Jiloan Hamad 82nd minute strike.
Mehdi Carcela-Gonzalez however popped up in the 85th minute to win it for Jose Riga’s side who were in dire need of a win to put the pressure on Anderlecht and Club Brugge.
Standard Liege however remain five points behind leaders Club Brugge after 27 rounds of matches in the Belgium top flight league.
