Super Eagles and FC IfeanyiUbah goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa has stated that he is humbled being the only home-based player invited for Nigeria's international friendlies against Senegal and Burkina Faso later this month, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Eagles coach Gernot Rhor released the list of players for the tune-up games scheduled to hold in London with the former youth international the only Nigeria Professional Football League player invited for the matches.
"I'm happy to be on that list," Ezenwa told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"I'm the only home-based player on the list not because I may be the best goalkeeper but it is by the grace of God and through hard work.
"The coaches have explained that they wanted to give new players opportunities to impress and possibly be part of the team for bigger games later this year. The goalkeeping department may not have too many players trying to force their way in but we have quality keepers in the league at home and I must keep working on my game, to get better."
Ezenwa who has kept four clean sheets for the Anambra Warriors so far this season added: "I'm looking forward to the matches but at the moment I'm focused on our league matches. At IfeanyiUbah our desire is to climb up the table and possibly get back to continental club competitions."
FC IfeanyiUbah defeated Remo Stars 3-0 in a rescheduled NPFL fixture on Wednesday and will travel to Lafia on Sunday in their next league game to face Nasarawa United.
