Ezenwa In, Abdullahi Out: How Emenike Wants Super Eagles To Line Up Vs Iceland

By Johnny Edward:

Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has suggested that the team should deploy a 3-1-4-2 formation in their second game against Iceland at the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia on Friday in Volvograd, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Gernot Rohr deployed a 4-3-3 formation in their opening group game against Croatia last Saturday but watched his side lose 2-0 to the Vatreni at the Kaliningrad Stadium with the Nigerian team offering no spark in attack.

Ahead of the second group game on Friday in Volvograd, Olympiacos striker Emenike, who called it quits from international football in 2016, posted apicture of his preferred starting line-up for the Super Eagles on his Instagram page @emenike_9 on Tuesday.

Emenike wants to see Ikechukwu Ezenwa in goal. He also deployed Kenneth Omeruo at the left side of a back three which has the duo of William Troost Ekong in the central position and Tyronne Ebuehi at the right side.

According to his line-up, the former Fenerbahce striker would love to see either Oghenekaro Etebo or captain Mikel Obi play in the deeplying midfield role.

Enenike, who starred for the Eagles at the 2014 World Cup, wants the trio of Ahmed Musa, Alex Iwobi and Victor Moses to be joined by Joel Obi or Wilfred Ndidi in a four-man midfield to support Kelechi Iheanacho and Odion Ighalo in attack.

The Super Eagles were impressively solid playing in a 3-5-2 formation in the second half of their defeats to England and Czech Republic but it remains to be seen if Gernot Rohr will tweak his formation for the crucial game against Iceland who are joint second with Argentina in Group D.

Nigeria are rock bottom in Group D and must beat Iceland to stand a chance of advancing to the round of 16.

  • Wow, former internationals who have world cup experience agree with me that you never send a boy to do a man’s job.
Ifeanyi Udeze, one or two ex-internationals and now Emmanuel Emenuke are all indirectly excluding Uzoho from their first team.
    I wonder why!

    • ADENIYI ADENIRAN 6 months ago

      What a joke!

I find this sentimental without any justification to why Uzoho should not retain his spot in the starting 11.

Joel Obi, played poorly in all the friendly matches and he gets to start in a crucial match.

Ezenwa is short for a goalkeeper. Uzoho has saved us.

Nigerians are confused! Please send these boys back home because they don’t have anything to offer in Russia. If you bet against me you lose your money.

Can Emenike shut up and let the guys do what they there for, your arrogance so obvious, now the team is looking for away forward you coming out to pour out your own formation, let the coach do his job, Uzoho is more than capable to marshal the post, this is not brother or padi business, you came in 2014, and you opt to retire, so please let them be, i swear, everyone reading this, Nigeria will win dirty on friday, and let everyone who wants to become a coach because of a loss, shut up. i trust Mikel nd his cohorts. Nigerians are never patient, we got the best jersey, some ex international, like Emmanuel Babayaro who i respect is saying they there for show off, am proud for the first time, my friends, foreign friends all went to buy our jersey, all sold out, why can’t we be happy our team is respected. Please press, al of you should start showing support. End off Emenike. Aight.

Respect my brother, all those who left the National team voluntaryly should go and hide,if luck go against us in this competition we take it like that,in any way they are playing we wish them all the best, good luck to the Nigerian team Cheer.

Jersey don’t play football bros. All we want is good football even if they lose.At least to let the world know we are prepared for the world cup and that will enable our plays get good clubs this season because that is where one of our problems came from.

Listen boy, you are a Nigerian so it is your civic right to support your country . Egypt has been kicked out of Russia and see the way the supporters held their heads high and cheered them. You guys can learn a thing or two from them.

      • danjay 6 months ago

@Jones if super eagles played the way Egypt did against Russia and lost I tell you we will give them a standing ovation.
No shot on goal all through a world cup match and you expect the fans to give their support?
Something had to change if the respect we have for Rohr should be sustained.

We all want to enjoy good football but yet we don’t work on it…. first let us support and fix our league.no one buy jerseys from our Nigerian league but from international.we have a lot of talent that can win the world cup if they are known.

      • You said and I quote:”there are a lot of talents that can win the World Cup (for Nigeria) if they are known,i.e, if a proper talent identification process unearths them.
That was the point I was trying to make previously when Dr Drey decided to hurl insults at me.
Frank, You are so spot on. The talents are there. This lazy coach just chose to go with the players conviniently at his disposal.

It is my civic right not to support a loser. Agreed, it your liberty to worship a loser equally so.

  • There is always a looser in football. The fact that they loose doesn’t make them a looaer at least they av sometimes been a winner. As for Emenike, Nigeria is a confused country everyone is just coming up with his own formation. Imagine the rubbish he just put out there that is to show how sentiment he will be if he is to be a coach. He want to do paddy paddy coach. He dropped Balogun d best defender in the last match for Omeruo and he said either of Mikel or Ndidi or Etebo. is that one serious? trash.

I’m tired of doing the lazy coach mr rohrs job for him without getting paid….I repeat this is Nigeria’s strongest team

Nigeria’s strongest starting 11 at the world cup
    Goalkeeper Uzoho
    Rwb ebuehi
Lwb moses…I choose moses here because I have seen him play at both left and right wing back for Chelsea and since we ebuehi is very efficient… I would have him at left back…and it would help curb some of his excesses…he is more tactically discipline from wing back
    In centre defence..I will have
    John ogu,ekong and balogun
    Central midfield…ndidi and etebo
    Midfield…mikel

I will have iwobi play just behind the striker
And of course to lead the attack is kelechi…because he has a better understanding of iwobi than any of the other strikers

passionately i love emmanuel emenike, but i have faulted his opinion that uzoho should step aside 4 ezenwa.goals scored by croatia were not his fault at all.

  • ovoke 6 months ago

Somebody should help me ask emenike how many goals he scored at Brazil 2014? Now he wants to dictate for the coach who is to be used and who is not to be used…drop uzoho for what reason?… Idiot!!!

  • Frank 6 months ago

Nigerians always finds fault but will not go and get solution.the football league should be given to those that knows football, from there we will get our Stars again like in the time of Kanu,finidi.etc.lack of good league have cost us to go into orderwiss.
