He was later replaced by Willian with eight minutes remaining in the game.
Speaking during his Friday’s press conference ahead of the Cup tie against the Championship side, Conte hinted that long-term injury absentee David Luiz could make a return to the Blues’ first team.
“I must make selection rotations tomorrow. David Luiz is in contention to be involved. The only doubt is Hazard who had a kick on his calf,” he said.
On report linking Everton’s Ross Barkley to Chelsea, Conte said he waa not in a position to announce the signing of any player.
“Ross Barkley is a young English player with good prospects but the club, not me, will inform on any news on a transfer.”
And on the recent struggle by Alvaro Morata, Conte backed the Spanish striker to come good.
He added:”Morata’s stats for goals and assists this season are good. He has lots of space for improvement but can be one of the best strikers in the world.”
