Falconets Coach Dedevbo Praises Players For Fantastic England win

Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, Peter Dedevbo has praised his team for rising above pressure and coming from behind to beat England 2-1 in the final Group C match of the FIFA 2014 U-20 Women World Cup.

The Falconets were a goal down as early as the fifth minute but Loveth Ayila put them level before Asisat Oshoala coolly slotted in the second goal from the penalty spot, for the Falconets to advance to the knock out round of the competition.

“It was a fantastic match. We had problems in the first half with our defence and the English team kept my girls under a lot of pressure,” the former Flamingoes coach told FIFA.com

“But I knew my team would come back and they came back very well. I liked the character of my team very much today,” he continued.

The Delta Queens coach is now focused on the quarter-finals and has decided to start planning for the encounter.

“We will start right away to prepare for the quarter-finals,” he said.

The Falconets will now take on New Zealand who finished second in Group D on Sunday, August 17 at the Moncton Stadium.
