–Says Falcons are ready for Namibia challenge
Head Coach of the Super Falcons Edwin Okon has stated that his target is to win the African Women’s Championship and also qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, Complete Sports can report.
Okon who took over from Kadiri Ikhana, told Complete Sports that he is satisfied with what he has seen in training.
“We have been training very hard and I am impressed with the focus of the players. Our target is the trophy and World Cup ticket.”
He also said that the home-based players he invited for the AWC will learn a lot from the foreign-based players.
“The home-based players we invited will benefit immensely from their foreign-based counterparts and that is one of the main targets of the team.”
The Falcons are in group A alongside host Namibia, Cote d’Ivoire and Zambia.
At the last edition which was hosted and won by Equatorial Guinea, the Falcons finished fourth.
