Falcons skipper Evelyn Nwabuoko has vowed her team will avenge a 1-0 loss to South Africa when they clash in an AWC semi-final on Wednesday.
This semi-final paring is a repeat of 2012 African Women’s Championship clash where Falcons lost to a Van Wyk goal in the 23rd minute.
“Our girls are all aware about what happened last we met and we will never allow that to happen when we meet them on Wednesday. We are focused and will go all out for victory,” she enthused.
Falcons coach Edwin Okon also said his team are prepared for perennial rivals Bayana Bayana of South Africa.
Speaking after the Falcons watched South Africa maul Algeria 5-1 to setup the semifinal clash, Okon said his side were never worried about who they would face at the knockout stage, but were focused on taking it one game at a time.
“We have watched the South Africans play and are ready to face them in the semifinals,” Okon said.
