By Adeboye Amosu: Home-based Super Eagles stars, Sunday Faleye and Dayo Ojo are delighted to be included in the country’s 23-man squad for the African Nations Championship in Morocco, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Head coach of the team, Salisu Yusuf released the list on Tuesday night, omitting the likes of Kingsley Eduwo who scored the vital goal that qualified Nigeria for the tournament against Benin Republic, MFM’s Sikiru Olatunbosun, Victor Mbaoma, Suraj Ayeleso and four others.
Faleye, a product of Lagos based Nigeria Nationwide League-two club, Freestan Football Club, got the the nod after impressing in the Nigeria Professional Football League invitational tournament in Kano.
“I’m extremely delighted to make the CHAN team,” the young forward informed Completesportsnigeria.com.
“It’s a dream come true for me and I promise to give my best at the competition. I don’t think I’m there yet because my main target is to play for Super Eagles main team.
“I hope to get the chance to prove my worth in Morocco and most importantly help my country win the competition for the first time.”
For Ojo, who just penned a new one-year contract with Sunshine Stars Football Club of Akure , his inclusion is a big consolation after his surprise omission from the squad that went to CHAN 2016 in Rwanda.
“I was extremely sad after I was omitted from the team in 2016. I took as a will of God and I want to thank im for this great opportunity to serve the country.”
“The training has been intense with everyone fighting hard to make the list and I’m happy to be among the player selected.”Unblock the FIFA World Cup with ExpressVPN the #1 Trusted Name in VPN
