Nigeria striker Fanendo Adi says he was lucky to score the winning goal for Portland Timbers in their 1-0 win against Real Salt Lake on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Adi scored the winner in the 12th minute after a shot by Darlington Nagbe deflected off Chris Shuller which allowed him to fire the ball past RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando.
"I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time," the big striker told Mlssoccer.com.
"Sometimes in front of goal, you have to be very composed. I took my time just to see where the goalkeeper was standing and just kicked it in."
The former Ukraine-based striker has scored 14 goals for Portland this season.
Last season, he scored 18 goals to help Portland lift the MLS Cup.
