FC Ifeanyiubah have finally written to Heartland of Owerri indicating interest in the goalkeeper Ebere Obi, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The Naze Millionaires had earlier this week raised alarm over what they described as unprofessional manner the Capital Oil and Gas giants approached the goalkeeper without first communicating to the club as the LMC rules stipulate and petitioned the league organizers.
Now, the Anambra Warriors officials have responded by writing to Heartland, expressing intention to hold talks with them over the goalkeeper’s transfer.
“FC Ifeanyiubah have now written to us expressing interest in signing goalkeeper Ebere Obi,” Heartland official, Solomon Onu, told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“We’ve subsequently replied them, but that is where we are at the moment,” Onu added.
Completesportsnigeria.com checks reveal that has already put pen to paper for the Nnewi side, insisting he wants a move despite reluctance by the Owerri club to hold him back.
We gathered that Heartland are yet to complete the payment of Ebere Obi’s transfer fee from Enugu Rangers and at the same time owing him contractual debt running into N4m.
“Heartland may not have any claim over Ebere Obi. They have not completed the payment of his transfer fee from Rangers”, a close source to the goalkeeper told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Heartland were to pay N3m for his clearance but till date only N1m was paid. Yet they owed him N1.5m in sign on fee before the abrogation of sign on fee.
“Presently, they are owing Ebere Obi three months salary arrears and when you consider all these, you find out Heartland may not have a strong case against Obi if he insists on leaving”, the goalkeeper’s close friend said Completesportsnigeria.com.
