Fed. Cup: Dolphins 1-0 El-Kanemi

Effervescent forward, Emem Eduok struck a minute before half time to hand Dolphins a 1-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors in a Federation Cup Round of 16 game at Lafia Township Stadium.

The victory took Dolphins to the quarter finals of the competition slated for next week Wednesday.

The Garden city green/white are chasing their fifth Federation Cup title win having lifted it four times in the past, 2001, 2004, 2006 and 2007.

They will now meet Lobi Stars of Makurdi in next wednesday’s quarter final clash though the venue has not been announced by the NFF.

“El-Kanemi Warriors gave us a difficult match, they played so well but I’m happy that my players defended well especially in the second half when they came all out on us”, Manager Stanley Eguma said.

His opposite number, Salisu Yusuf, congratulated Dolphins for their win but said his warriors lacked the cutting edge.

“We played well but lacked the finishing power up front. Dolphins had their chance and took it, congratulations to them”, Yusuf, a former Super Eagles assistant coach and like Eguma, former Enyimba coach said.
