—Lobi, Akwa Utd Also Reach Semis

Enugu Rangers, Lobi Stars, Nassarawa United and Akwa United have booked their places in the semi-finals of the Federation Cup.
In the quarter-final games that were decided on Wednesday, in the Abuja centre, Rangers defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 3-0, with the duo of Osas Okoro and Odah Onoriode (brace) getting on the score sheet.
At the Lokoja centre, Lobi Stars beat B.J. Foundation 2-1 to progress. Mohammed Farouk put Lobi ahead from the penalty spot before Obioma Arinze doubled their lead. B.J. Foundation reduced the deficit but Lobi held on to advance.
In Makurdi, Akwa United overcame Tournadoes Feeders 4-3 on penalties after regulation time ended 2-2.
Akwa United raised to a 2-0 lead but were pegged back by Tournadoes Feeders to force the game to penalty shootout.
While in the Ilorin centre, Nassarawa United saw off Daniel Amokachi’s FC IfeanyiUbah by 1-0, leaving the former Nigeria assistant coach winless in two games.
In the women’s fixtures that were also played on Wednesday, Confluence Queens beat Rivers Angels 2-1, Bayelsa Queens defeated Edo Queens 2-0, Nassarawa Amazons spanked Osun Babes 3-1 and FC Robo fell 2-0 to Sunshine Queens.
The semi-final pairings will see Lobi Stars face Rangers and Nassarawa United square up against Akwa United in the men’s fixtures.
For the women, Confluence Queens will do battle with Bayelsa Queens while Nassarawa Amazons and Sunshine Queens will try each other for size.
The semi-finals for both the men and women fixtures will come up on Wednesday August 19, 2015.
