FIFA Confirm Nigeria’s Ogunmuyiwa For Third Beach Soccer World Cup

Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) have confirmed Nigerian referee Jelili Ogunmuyiwa as one of the 24 referees selected to officiate at the 2017 Beach Soccer World Cup in Bahamas.

Ogunmuyiwa, 38, was picked alongside Tunisia's Issam Bousbih and Said Hachim from Madagascar as Africa's representatives at this year's Beach Soccer World Cup, FIFA announced on their website on Friday.

In the other referees selections announced, North and Central America's CONCACAF have three, South America's CONMEBOL have five, eight are from Europe, four from Asia and one from Oceania.

Born in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Ogunmuyiwa who also officiates in the Nigeria Professional Football League, will be attending his third FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

He was at the 2011 and 2015 World Cups in Italy and Portugal respectively.

He also officiated the final of the 2015  Africa Beach Soccer Cup of Nations between Senegal and Madagascar.

This year's Beach Soccer World Cup will run from 27 April to 7 May, 2017.

The Super sand Eagles are in Group B with Mexico, Italy and Asian champions Iran.

The coach Audu Adamu-led team will open their campaign against Italy on 27 April.
