Flamingoes Captain Ajibade: We Must Score Vs Korea And Advance

Nigeria U-17 women's national team captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, has admitted that they will have to improve on their scoring ability to stand a chance of making it to the quarter-finals of this year's FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Jordan.

The Flamingoes are yet to score a goal so far in this year's tournament.

They lost 1-0 to Brazil in their first game on Saturday before drawing 0-0 against England on Tuesday.

And ahead of their last group game against North Korea on Saturday, Ajibade told FIFA.com that they have to start putting away scoring opportunities to advance from the group stage.

“In the next game, we need to work on finishing our chances,” reflected Ajibade.

“We’ve not managed to score in two games. Obviously that has to change.”

Despite the Flamingoes securing just one point from two games, Ajibade stated that her target at this year's tournament is to do better than the quarter-final finish at the 2014 edition held in Costa Rica which she participated in.

“I came to the tournament with the aim of getting a better result this time around, and I think my experience from two years ago will help me,” she said confidently. “I really believe in our strengths as a team and I know we can achieve that.”

“Our players don’t have that much experience, so it can happen that they doubt themselves.

“So, with my experience, I try to be by their side and give them encouragement. I always say to them: ‘You can do this! So come on, let’s get out there and win!’”
