Rohr Adopts 3-5-2 Formation Vs South Africa; Ezenwa In Goal; Ogu, Kalu Start; Musa, Iheanacho Lead Attack

By Adeboye Amosu:
Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr , will adopt a 3-5-2 formation in today’s (Saturday) 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The long-anticipated match kicks off at 2pm Nigerian time this afternoon (Saturday). And the Super Eagles are raring to go with great motivation.

Ezenwa: Super Eagles Can’t Afford To Miss AFCON 2019

CSN scooped that Ikechukwu Ezenwa, John Ogu and Kelechi Iheanacho will be handed starting shirts in the Rohr’s formation for the game.

Ezenwa will come in for the injured Francis Uzoho, while Ogu is favoured for a starting berth following Wilfred Ndidi’s suspension and Ogenyi Onazi’s snub by Rohr.

Ogu, who plays for Israeli club, Hapoel Be’er Sheva will be supported in the middle of the park by Oghenekaro Etebo and Alex Iwobi, who will be playing the number-10 role.

Kenneth Omeruo who sat out the Super Eagles’ previous qualifier against Libya will pair the duo of William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun in the heart of the defence.

Iwobi, Iheanacho, Musa Spearhead Eagles’ Revenge Mission Against Bafana

Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu who was the last player to arrive the Super Eagles in camp in Asaba ahead the game, has been picked ahead of Ola Aina to play in the formation’s right-wing-back position.

Jamilu Collins will retain his position on the left side of the defence ahead of Locomotiv Moscow of Russia defender, Bryan Idowu.

Collins only made his debut for the Super Eagles last month against Libya.

The formation will also have the duo of Ahmed Musa and Kelechi Iheanacho spearheading the the Super Eagles’ attack in the absence of injured top striker, Odion Ighalo.

Rohr: Eagles Won’t Miss Ndidi Vs Bafana Bafana

Rohr’s men top Group E with nine points, one more than South Africa and a win in the encounter would see them return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing the last two editions.

Nice lineup! Let’s go for victory.

it is a nice formation and good selection but it would have been better to start Isaac success instead of Iheanacho and Ola Aina instead of keneth omeruo anyways I wish super Eagles Victory.

I’m sure you mean aina for kalu and not omeruo. Omeruo is playing central back.

  • I think this lineup is a WMD. There’s going to be total liquidation of Bafana. Ezenwa must be calm not to give away a penalty with rash attacks.

I’ve bought the expensive champagne. Will the SE allow me to pop it open, pleeeeease. Good luck

  • A killer squad in making!I’m sure of total victory if this is the line up.

Good luck guys, i hope we will all smile at the end of the game.

  • Just as I scooped in the other thread. This is an ideal set up. Obviously, Rohr is going for the kill, and not playing for a draw. Kelechi and Musa are personally fired up for this game. I smell a goal for Nigeria in the first 10 minutes.

It’s a 3 point good he didn’t play Akpeyi and Aina. Second half I hope to see Success in for Kelechi and Chukwueze for Kalu. I leave the last sub blank if any emergency

  • @Chima the last sub shouls be Agu for Ahmed musa if we are 3.0 up at 72mins.If this was Bonfere Jo, but this is Rho, he is too slow to make changes, ans unpredictable with his changes.

I just think that at some point we should pull back and play 4-5-1.

Bring in Agu and Chukweze or Success.

    Good luck SE.
    we are condemned to win.
If you loose dont come home. Go to your clubs from there.
