France Batter Super Falcons 8-0 In Friendly!

By James Agberebi:

The Super Falcons of Nigeria were hammered 8-0 by France senior women’s national team in an international friendly game played inside the MMArena in Le Mans, France on Friday.

The friendly is part of preparations for the Falcons ahead of the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations qualifiers.

It was new Swedish coach Thomas Dennerby’s first game with the main team of the Super Falcons.

The last time the Super Falcons faced France was in their first group stage game at the 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany which the French won 1-0.

France had the first chance of the game in the 14th minute but Chiamaka Nnadozie made a good save to deny the hosts.

The deadlock was eventually broken in the 19th minute through Eugenie Le Sommer.

In the 26th minute Super Falcons Ngozi Ebere received the game’s first yellow card for a foul.

The French continued to create opportunities and were rewarded in the 36th minute as Valerie Gauvin made it 2-0.

On the stroke of half-time, the Super Falcons conceded again as Gaetane Thiney stretched France’s lead to 3-0 going into the break.

In the 54th minute Desire Oparanozie hit a well struck shot but was denied by a good save by the French goalkeeper.

The French recovered from the scare from Oparanozie as Aminata Diallo extended their lead in the 60th minute before Gauvin grabbed her second goal in the 70th minute to give her side a 5-0 lead.

With 12 minutes remaining, Gauvin completed her hat-trick to give the French a 6-0 lead.

The French were not done as they bagged their seventh goal with five minutes left following an own goal by Faith Ikidi.

And in the 92nd minute, Marie-Charlotte Leger completed the rout.

What’s going on here? Super Falcon lost 8-0 ke! Come on, this is embarrassing now!. Please, to whom it may concern, quickly and fast fast dissolve this team before they go and disgrace us at the world cup. I beg in the name of God.

  • What do you expect from a team that just had their 2 trainings-Morning and Evening session??? And you expect them to beat The Mighty FRANCE in women’s football. Nah, things doesn’t work that way. To be honest, i expected more than 8-0

Hopefully the “Super” Falcons were not wearing the official Nigerian jersey when this disaster happened. No sports team representing the country should go down with such disgrace! Or were their airfares not refunded, and allowances not paid? As usual? And by the way, why was Florence Omagbemi sacked as coach only for the team to fall from fry pan into fire?

This foreign coach is just making a fool of us… pinnick shine your eyes he is destroying our team starting from dropping oshoala for no reason plus losing wafu cup to Ghana and ending at 3rd place at that same wafu cup. Common this man is here on destroying mission and can’t do us any good.

    • Oshoala was having visa issue just like d way it stopped Mike from playing in Super eagles friendly match….it’s not the coach fault. .. but ds is really an ass whooping score line….

well the match was exactly as expected..hard work they say pays so what do you expect from a country that don’t have a goodfootball spirit for the ladies.mostly the men do certainly well because they train harder but the ladies don’t at all.we even leave our country to play for them in theirs ..I also desire it as a footballer cause Nigeria doesn’t pay well at all in sports in general.

    Something is wrong.
the line up isn’t bad Na…
    why 8-0?
    for what???

this is ludicrous…. African champions… when even the likes of Germany and Brazil have not beaten us with that margin…

    this must be investigated.

we are not Comoros island or Djibouti…

how can Nigeria loose so scandalously?

thats the effect of a team not being active for almost two years

  • We always believe in white coaches while our black coaches can do it better.when had falcons lost such margin under indigineous coach or is it a rigged and fixed match?
