Former Nigeria international Garba Lawal has tasked coaches of the U-20 and U-23 national teams to provide the country with quality players, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Lawal speaking in an interview with Sports Radio 88.9 Brila FM, stated that it was high time the country started producing players who will don the colours of the senior national team in the future.
“It’s sad that we will not be in Equatorial Guinea (for the 2015 AFCON), especially after winning the last edition in South Africa. The damage has been done, what can we do? We just have to move on and focus on a bright future.
“Now is the time for the coaches of the U20 and U23 to provide the next sets of players for the senior national team. They should provide us with quality players who will do the country proud in the future.”
The national U-20 side his handled by former Golden Eaglets gaffer Manu Garba, while ex-international Samson Siasia is in charge of the U-23 side.
