German Club RB Leipzig Table £22m Offer For Lookman

German club RB Leipzig have reportedly made an improved £22m bid for Everton forward Ademola Lookman.

The 20-year-old spent last season on loan at the Bundesliga outfit, who are now eager to make the move permanent having seen the youngster score five goals in 11 appearances.

Everton have already turned down two bids from Leipzig, but The Mirror reports that they have now returned with a third offer of £22m, which would break their transfer record.

The summer arrivals of Richarlison and Bernard have increased the competition for forward places at Goodison Park, leaving Lookman to consider the possibility of moving in order to secure more regular first-team football.

However, Everton are reportedly holding out for a £30m bid for the England Under-21 international.

Manager Marco Silva recently insisted that Lookman is in his plans for the new season, but the forward has not featured in either of the Toffees’ Premier League outings so far.

  • Since Mosses has retired I think is high time for NFF to persuade this guy to play for Nigeria if he wish.

    • Moses played right side, Lookman plays left. He can compete supply competition on the left with the right footed plleft wingers : Bryan Idowu and Mohammed Musa

  • I dont think we are lacking in that area in supee eagles, we still have some pacy players that can do the job of moses. If the guy is interested in playing for Nigeria he should voice out, hes not bigger than Nigeria afterall the oyinbo wall showed us what patriotism is all about.

  • The way CS is reporting this guy progress speaks volume

  • Ademola Lookman: a future Nigeria International?

According to our very own Colin Udor, he wrote on espn.com sometime ago: ” Lookman has a better chance of a long and sustained international career with Nigeria than with England.”

Udoh wrote further: “And it will be in both parties’ interests for the player to play for Nigeria with the opportunity of participating at major tournaments like the Olympic Games and African Nations Cup.

And he’s more likely to win an international medal with Nigeria than with England.” End of quote.

I quite agree with Colin Udor to a point. I think we sometimes underestimate the competitiveness and options available to the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

While some dual nationalities like Balogun and Iwobi have found success, such accomplishments have evaded the likes of Sone Aluko and Victor Anichebe (who retired in frustration).

If he does elect to play for Nigeria, Lookman will have to fight for his place like everyone else.

Having said that, with his pace, poise and other attributes, there is nothing to suggest that Ademola Lookman will not be stake a claim in the attack of the Super Eagles.

And yes, there will be chances aplenty to play and win more with Nigeria.

      The penultimate paragraph should read:

Having said that, with his pace, poise and other attributes, there is nothing to suggest that Ademola Lookman will not be able to stake a claim in the attack of the Super Eagles.

It time NFF and Coach Gernot Rohr approaches this guy ADEMOLA LOOKMAN. He’s such a talented footballer and he will be a good replacement for Victor Moses

  • Ademola Lookman is a young lad who has promising future with the Super Eagles.
I think he’s just a decent player who has a lot do improve his game.
He’s quick, with the ball under his feet like Raheem Sterling, he has flair too and can play on both sides of the wing but needs to work on his final ball.

It will be in his own interests if he elects to play for Nigeria, otherwise the senior team has nothing to lose with glut in the supply of attacking players at its disposal like Simon Moses, Samuel Kalu, Anthony Nwakeme, Onyekuru Henry, Emem Uduok, Jr Ajayi.
With his coming he’ll have these people to contend with.
