Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has once again praised his side’s new acquisition, Sadiq Umar and claimed that the club will provide him the platform to take his career to the next level.
Sadiq, 21, linked up with the Scottish club on a one-year loan deal from Italian side, AS Roma on Tuesday.
The young striker is in line to make his debut for Rangers in a UEFA Europa League first qualifying round, first leg fixture against Macedonian club, FC Shkupi at the Ibrox Stadium on Thursday.
“Umar is a player with huge potential and I think he is looking for the next stage to take his career to the next level. Rangers can give this boy a stage and platform to perform on,” Gerrard, a Liverpool legend stated during his pre-match conference on Wednesday ahead of FC Shkupi’s clash.
Umar joined Roma in 2015 from Serie B club Spezia but he has rarely featured for the Rome-based outfit.
He has scored twice in six appearances for the Giallorossi since the move and have spent time on loan with Bologna and Torino.
The player spent the second half of last season on loan at Dutch club, NAC Breda and scored five times in 12 league appearances.
