Ghana Winger Hails Omeruo

Ghana winger Albert Adomah believes the presence of Nigerian World Cup defender Kenneth Omeruo illustrates the strength in the Middlesbrough squad this season.

The two players represented their respective countries in Brazil this summer, Adomah playing for Ghana in their 2-1 Group G defeat to Germany and Omeruo playing all four games as Nigeria reached the second round.

Adomah has enjoyed a meteoric rise from park football to the world stage while central defender Omeruo – now on loan at Boro – progressed through the ranks at Standard Liege before joining Chelsea in 2012.

“It’s always a positive when you have international players,” said Adomah, 26.

“Not just players who have played in a World Cup like myself and Kenneth, but to have players who have represented their country. It brings a bit of experience.

“It’s great to have Kenneth back at the club. He was solid as a rock against Leeds. Yes, we conceded, but he brings a lot to the team.

“Every season the squad gets stronger, it improves year on year, but you need a strong squad because it’s a long season.”
