Ghana’s Captain Sure Of Qualification

Stand-in captain for the Black Princesses of Ghana Grace Adams is optimistic that they will make it to the knockout stage of the FIFA Women’s U-20 World Cup despite losing 3-0 to North Korea.

Adams told FIFA.com that their attention now is on the game Finland.

“We know that we’ve still got room for improvement and above, that we still have a chance of qualifying. So why would we be sad? We are trying to think about the next match, not the previous one. We have to look forwards, not backwards.”

“To motivate my team-mates, I am going to tell them we have to put any doubts behind us an go out there with more determination than before. Whatever happens, we mustn’t let our heads drop.”
She went on to recount the game against North Korea.

“They were faster than us and always first to the ball. We were slow. It’s tough when you’re defending for the whole match and every time you look to clear your lines and get back into strides, the ball just keeps on coming back. We barely had time to draw breath.”
