Go-Round FC Technical Adviser, Ngozi Elechi, says his team largely made up of rookies will make a big impact in the 2017/2018 Nigeria Professional Football League season, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Omoku- club will make their debut appearance in the NPFL after finishing second behind Heartland in the Southern Conference of the Bet9ja Nigeria National League last term.
Elechi has kept faith with majority of the players who helped the modest club gain promotion to the top flight, bringing in a couple of new faces from other NNL clubs.
Despite the enormity of the task before his team, Elechi, an enterprising midfielder during his playing days in the Nigerian League, is confident Go-Round FC can rub shoulders with other clubs in the NPFL and most importantly,z secure their top flight status at the end of the season.
“I don’t believe in big names. The players secured promotion for the club and I believe in their ability to do well in the NPFL,” Elechi, a former Jigawa Golden Stars midfielder, told Completesportsnigeria.com at the Agege Stadium, venue of the NNL Super Four.
“We have brought in a couple of new players to fortify the team, but they are from other clubs in the NNL. They are quality players who will help us do well in the top league.
“I know some people believe that you must sign players from other clubs in the NPFL once you gained promotion, but we want to prove them wrong.
“We have a team that is strong and has blended together. My players are hungry and want to make names for themselves.
“That hunger is what will propel us to do well and make a big impact once the league starts.”
Go-Round will take on Wikki Tourists of Bauchi in their first ever match in the NPFL on Sunday at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
