By Johnny Edward: Nigeria’s Tobiloba Amusan made it through to the final of the 100m hurdles at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia on Thursday, morning reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Amusan won the women’s 100m hurdles round 1 – heat 1 with a time of 12.73 seconds.
Her compatriot Grace Ayemoba failed to make it to the final of the event after she finished sixth in her heat with a time of 13.59 seconds.
Nigeria’s Glory Nathaniel has also qualified for the final of the women’s 400m hurdles.
Running in lane 6 of the women’s 400m hurdles round 1 – Heat 2 event, Nathaniel came third in a time of 55.01 seconds.
The time was her personal best time.
She will compete in lane seven in the final later on Thursday.
In the women’s 400m hurdles round 1 – Heat 1 event, Rita Ossai did not finish the race.
Mohammed Alowonle also booked a place in the final despite finishing fourth in the men’s 400m hurdles round 1 – Heat 2.
He set a personal best time of 49.49 seconds.
Alowonle made it through to the final as one of the fastest non-automatic qualifiers.
In the men’s 400m hurdles round 1 – Heat 1, Henry Okorie finished eighth, posting a time of 52.15 seconds.
