The management of relegation threatened NPFL side, Gombe United, has handed out a three-match ultimatum to their Technical adviser, Manu Garba, to improve the team's fortunes or face sanction, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
According to a media statement signed by the chairman of the club Auwalu Umar Musa and made available to Completesportsnigeria.com, the management also announced the signing of 11 players for the second round of the 2016/17 Nigeria Professional Football League season, and released eight players on mutual consent from the current squad.
"Based on recommendation from the technical crew, eleven new players were signed as reinforcement to the team," the statement reads in part.
"To this effect, eight players were released, based on mutual consent.
"Based on player performance index, players' salaries were improved. This is with a view to impelling them to improve their performances.
"The Technical Adviser, Coach Manu Garba, OON, and his crew are given ultimatum in the next three matches to improve on the team's performance or face sanction."
The new players signed by Gombe United are; Igoh Ogbu from Geeleg Academy, Jos; Habib Olawale from Lagos Academy; Iyoro Evans, Afolabi Abdulwaheed from Shooting Stars; Tijjani Adamu from Kano Pillars and Joseph Onoja-Winger from Elkanemi Warriors.
Others are; Usman Musa-Winger from Doma United, Abdulrahman Umar Kelebe from Yarmalight, Zaidu Mohammed Ibrahim from Flash, Jamilu Shehu from Doma United and Aminu Abubakar Yusa from Taraba United.
The players released to seek their career opportunities elsewhere are Bala Mohammed, Fabassou Diedonne, Nura Mohammed, McDonald Igbankwe, Franklin Matibel, Nnamdi Ebosie, Samuel Agba and Chidera Ejuike.
Gombe United are 18th in the NPFL log with 22 points. They will host stuttering champions Enugu Rangers next Wednesday at the Pantami Stadium.
