Nigeria goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has given a positive report on his recovery as he reveals he is now in complete remission from leukaemia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Ikeme revealed this on Twitter handle on Saturday.
The United States of America National Cancer Institute describes complete remission as ‘the disappearance of all signs of cancer in response to treatment. This does not always mean the cancer has been cured. Also called complete response’.
The shot stopper was diagnosed with acute leukaemia in 2017 following a pre-season blood test at Wolverhampton Wanderers and has been undergoing chemotherapy.
He however stated that he still on the road to recovery while thanking everyone who have been supporting him.
“After a year of intense chemotherapy I would like to share that I am in complete REMISSION. I still have hurdles to pass to be cured, but hopefully I can move on with some normality! I would like to thank everyone for their support over the past year. Thank you #Grateful,” Ikeme tweeted.
