Guardiola Charged By Engish FA Over Political Messages

The English Football Association have charged Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola for ‘wearing a political message, specifically a yellow ribbon’, the governing body announced on Friday.

Guardiola had been warned twice by the FA for wearing the poppy before being charged on Friday.

Guardiola, whose side face Arsenal in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, has until 6pm on Monday, March 5 to respond to the charge.

The FA said in a statement that the yellow ribbon worn by Guardiola on his jacket in support of imprisoned Catalan politicians was in breach of its kit and advertising regulations.

Jordi Cuixart and Jordi Sanchez are the imprisoned Catalan politicians. They were incarcerated during the row over Catalan independence.
