Guardiola: No Pressure On Iheanacho In Aguero’s Absence

By James Agberebi:
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has challenged Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho to live up to expectations in the absence of the suspended Sergio Aguero.

Iheanacho was on target in Manchester City’s 1-1 home draw against Celtic in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The Nigerian is expected to keep his place in the starting line-up for the next few games as Aguero serves his ban following the Argentine’s assault on Chelsea’s David Luiz.

It was Iheanacho’s second Champions League goal this season after first scoring in City’s 4-0 win against Monchengladbach on matchday 1.

In his post-match comments, Guardiola said he is pleased with the performance of his team.

“I’m so happy, we played really well,” Guardiola said.

“The experienced players helped the younger players and it was a really good game.

“There is no pressure on Kelechi Iheanacho, he just has to do his job.”

Guardiola hailed Manchester City’s on loan player, Patrick Roberts, who scored Celtic’s first goal.

“Patrick Roberts’ goal was fantastic, he is a good player. We will think about him at the end of the season.

“I’m very happy we have qualified from a very tough group. We have to win respect in this competition and we look forward to the draw.”
