Slovakia bounced back from their opening day loss to Wales as they beat Russia 2-1 on Wednesday.
Vladimir Weiss opened the scoring for Slovakia when he found the back of the net in the 32nd minute.
On the stroke of half-time, Marek Hamsik doubled Slovakia’s lead with a brilliant strike to make it 2-0.
Denis Glushakov reduced the deficit by scoring in the 10th minute but Slovakia held on to secure their first win of the tournament.
The win places Slovakia second in Group B on three points behind leaders Wales.
Russia are rooted at the bottom of the group with just one point.
The group’s other game comes up on Thursday between England and Wales.
