Hazard Beats De Bruyne, Lukaku To Belgium’s Footballer Of The Year Award

It was a Premier League 1,2,3 for the prestigious Devil of the year award for Belgium’s best player as Chelsea’s Eden Hazard dusted Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne and Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku to the award for his national team exploits in 2017.

De Bruyne, regarded as the most outstanding player in City’s soaring run this season, with six goals and nine assists in 21 games, was deemed by the Belgian fans to be good enough for only the second spot as they considered Hazard to have enjoyed the better year on the international stage, as they cruised to World Cup qualification.

Hazard only made five appearances for Belgium in 2017, as opposed to De Bruyne’s eight, though the Chelsea star produced several fine performances, scoring three and assisting two in those games.

For his outstanding displays, the Chelsea star polled 10,280 votes, more than double the 4,710 that De Bruyne amassed, with Romelu Lukaku rounding off the top three with 3,223 entries.
