Heartland of Owerri Captain, Chinedu Efugh says the Naze Millionaires will approach all their remaining games in the NPFL as cup finals in a bid to achieve optimum results that will ease their safety in the race against the dreaded drop, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
"Our slogan in the remaining games is to give our 100%. That's the only way we can achieve results. We don't want to drop points in the remaining games and so we've decided to approach all the games as if they are cup finals," the centre-back who is called 'Chicago' told Completesportsnigeria.com.
Heartland are 15th in the Premier League table and will travel to Sunshine Stars of Akure for Sunday's NPFL match-day 33 fixture.
The former Mighty Jets of Jos and Enugu Rangers defender who scored the match winner as Heartland edged Enyimba 1-0 to lift the 2011 Federation Cup, posited that they are going to Akure confident of snatching a good result.
"The spirit in the camp is very high. We know where we stand before mounting the starting block for this final race against time.
"So, we're holding our heads high hoping to get a good result in Akure. It's not impossible because we have all our key players available for the game," the fair-skinned centre-back who also plays as a defensive midfielder stressed.
Efugh, a long term transfer target of oriental neighbours, Enyimba, is highly motivated for the game at Sunshine as well as the remaining fixtures.
"Motivation-wise, yes, I can say things are not as they were before. We just have to go there and fight as well in the coming games," Efugh said to Completesportsnigeria.com.
"You can say that we have a new coach now but then every coach comes with his own philosophy which of course is to continue from where his predecessor stopped and improve on it.
"That's the position at Heartland at the moment and we hope it will push us all the way to safety in the battle against relegation."
