By James Agberebi: Hibernian manager Neil Lennon says he is satisfied with the performance of Nigerian defender Efe Ambrose despite his part in his side’s 4-1 away defeat to Aberdeen in the Scotish Premiership on Saturday.
Ambrose was at fault for Aberdeen’s third goal right on half-time, after dithering in possession, slipping and giving the ball away, allowing Gary Mackay-Steven to scamper unchallenged towards Hibs goal and score.
But Lennon refused to blame Ambrose instead singling out for praise in the heavy defeat.
“Efe is the least of my worries,” Lennon told Edinburgh News.
“He’s the only one who tries to play. He’s the only one who takes responsibility. He’s been absolutely outstanding. I’m playing him at right-back to accommodate other people and he’s done really well.
“If he’s at fault for the third goal, then so be it, but he was the least of my worries.”
The loss to Aberdeen was Hibernian’s second in their last two league games following their 2-1 home defeat to Rangers last Wednesday.
Hibernian are now fourth on 30 points, 11 points behind leaders Celtic in the league table.
