Stoke City have moved to cover for the season-long injury suffered by Super Eagles striker Osaze Odemwingie by the signing of Morocco forward Oussama Assaidi who was on loan at the club from Liverpool last season.
On Monday night, Stoke City manager Mark Hughes confirmed to Sky Sports TV of the loan deal.
“He (Assaidi) was on loan here last season and we are delighted that he is back with us. He is a good cover for us (in Odemwingie’s absence).
Odemwingie could be out for the season amid fears he has seriously damaged his cruciate knee ligament.
That left Stoke seeking a long-term replacement here on deadline day.
Stoke had tried to buy Assaidi earlier this summer following his successful loan stint at the Britannia last season.
The news on Odemwingie is a crushing blow for a player starring in Stoke’s last season revival just a few months ago.
He collapsed with nobody around him at Manchester City on Saturday and was stretchered from the pitch.
