Home Eagles midfielder Ibenegbu Ikechukwu has taken to Facebook to describe the shocking exit of the team from the on-going African Nations Championship as the worst moment of his career, Completesportsnigeria.com.
Ibenegbu who watched from the bench as the Home Eagles were dumped out of the competition by Guinea in their final group game revealed that the defeat was a bitter pill to swallow.
"Hard to bear. The worst moment of my career, God please give me grace to bear it," Ibenegbu wrote on his Facebook wall.
Ibenegbu starred in the Home Eagles first two games for Sunday Oliseh's team against Niger and Tunisia but was not considered for action in the defeat to Guinea.
Next up for the Sunday Oliseh is a top-of-the-table double –take against Pharaohs of Egypt in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying race, with the first leg in Nigeria on March 23 and the return leg in Egypt five days later.
In June, the Super Eagles take on Chad in N’Djamena before hosting Tanzania in the final round of matches in September.
