Iceland skipper, Aron Einar Gunnarsson has intensified his training programme in his bid to return to full fitness ahead of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Gunnarsson is in a race against time to regain full fitness ahead of Iceland’s World Cup opener against Argentina on June 16 and has been in Qatar since April for his full recovery training programme after he sustained a knee injury.
Iceland will later face stiffer tests against Nigeria on June 22 and Croatia on June 26.
The tough looking Cardiff City central defender posted his latest pictures on his official instagram page to confirm his state of health with Iceland physiotherapist Tomi Jagarinec on ground to monitor his progress.
Gunnarsson is tipped to stage a comeback earlier than expected and join Icelands training in preparations for the national team’s international friendly against Ghana at Laugardalsvellir on Wednesday and Norway three days later at same venue.
