Iceland will make one change to the side that will face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in their Group D fixture in Volgograd at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia on Friday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Burnley winger, Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson, picked a calf injury in the side’s 1-1 draw against Argentina last Saturday and is a big doubt for the game against the Super Eagles.
Everton midfielder, Gyfil Sigurdsson , trained separately from the rest of the squad on Tuesday but was part of the session on Wednesday.
Ari Freyr Skúlason,31, who plays for Belgian club, Lokeren , is expected to replace Guðmundsson in the starting line-up.
According to a report in Iceland online news outlet, Visir.is, the team engaged in a practice match on Wednesday morning, their last session before their departure to Volgograd with the team that faced Argentina facing the second 11 with Skúlason taking the place of the injured Guðmundsson.
Iceland and Nigeria will clash at the Volgograd Arena with both countries needind to avoid defeat to keep alive their hopes of reaching the second around.
